Replacement of missing teeth using advanced implant techniques in carefully selected cases.

Equine dental implantation is still in an active stage of development. We are conducting extensive foundational research to better understand the biological, biomechanical, and clinical requirements involved, and to continuously refine the techniques used. The objective of this work is to further improve the safety, predictability, and long term stability of implants in our patients, while providing evidence based guidance to support clinical decision making in practice.
Dental implantation may be considered when the loss of a tooth significantly affects a horse’s ability to chew and overall comfort. A stable anatomical situation and a realistic likelihood of success are essential prerequisites.
A comprehensive diagnostic workup and careful treatment planning are necessary to assess feasibility and potential risks. This includes evaluating bone structure, surrounding soft tissues, and the expected functional load on the implant.
Modern surgical techniques are used for implant placement, with the goal of achieving stable integration into the surrounding tissues under conditions that are as minimally traumatic as possible.
Long term follow up is essential to monitor implant stability and function. Regular examinations allow for early detection of any changes or complications.
Equine dental implantation requires realistic expectations and ongoing professional care. Not every case is suitable, making careful case selection and thorough client communication critical.
